March 20 - April 12, 2001
This installation began from a small drawing of silhouetted figures. A series of monoprints were created, digitized and printed. Two soft figural sculptures were made of felt. The idea was to recontextualize something from the past – I had drawn the figure for years and it had become reduced to silhouettes. I was looking at the past, reminiscent of a shadow of the figural form. It bridged print work to the beginning of sculptural work.
